SYNOPSIS
The single titled “Slaves of the Algorithm” by Ivan Labanda and Svetlana addresses a topic that is increasingly present in our lives: the algorithm that dictates everything we consume. In this overflowing capitalist system, we are demanded more every day just to survive. To cope with the effects of this fast-paced life, we often surrender to the endless scroll of social media, looking for a moment of relief. But what we are really doing is feeding the machine that controls us in a vicious circle.
The algorithms of big corporations analyze our patterns and constantly offer us content that “we like,” but… to what extent are we truly the ones deciding what we like? We are at a point where privacy policies and personalized services are presented as symbols of freedom, but are we really choosing, or are we subject to constant manipulation that makes us lose control of our lives?
So… what the hell? We accept it without questioning. We’re too lazy to read the fine print; we have neither the time nor the energy. Everything is at our fingertips with a simple thumb swipe. We accept being part of this wheel, living distracted and “numbed,” while allowing the great invisible monster to grow unchecked, taking over our will, our desires, our creativity. But, of course… no one better touch our cookies!
